We have a fun tutorial for you today. You can always add more strips at this point if you wish.

My Quilt As You Go Process A Tutorial Of Sorts Quilting

We love it when you guys ask for certain things because it helps us with our ideas.

Quilting tutorial quilt as you go. Essentially this technique includes any method of quilting which involves sandwiching pieces of the backing batting and top individually rather than making the whole quilt top and then sandwiching it with the batting and backing. Note this technique produces a double sided quilt. I m a beginner yet so it s constantly challenging and fun and creative all at once.

I just quilted a design in the center of the blocks. Measured in the center my quilt was 45 tall so far. Shirley and linda from the comments section of the quilter s daily deal have asked for a tutorial on the quilt as you go method.

While you can make the blocks in any technique you want for this tutorial i used the easiest technique. The one problem i have however with every quilt i make is the fact that it is awful hard to machine quilt on. So we thought we would make you girls happy and put out a tutorial on that.

Piece together 2 strips for the front border and 2 strips for the back border the same length as the center of the quilt that you just measured. The quilt as you go method is a quilting technique that is exactly what it sounds like you quilt as you go along. If you want to use both sides plan ahead what to use as backing for your blocks.

It is raw edge applique which i have not done before and i am enjoying the freedom of quilting a block at a time and varying the quilting from block to block. It works best with piecing that is done by adding one strip to the next. I am doing my first quilt as you go quilt at the moment after decades of quilting.

It may vary a lot depending on your seam allowances and quilting. But with this i can use the more traditional blocks i love and still do the quilt as you go. So as you are piecing your fabric together you are also quilting the quilt.

Cut batting strips this length also. It is a great technique to use on table runners pot holders and other small projects that you would like to make quickly. The quilt as you go method is a favorite among longtime quilters.

Quilting is something that i absolutely enjoy.
